Mossbourne Celebrates 20 Years of Music, Ambition and Community
On a warm evening filled with rhythm, harmony and heartfelt performances, the Mossbourne Federation came together to mark a momentous occasion — our 20th Anniversary Concert.
From the moment guests arrived, greeted by the uplifting sounds of our Samba Band and Steel Pans Ensemble, it was clear this was going to be a night to remember. Hosted with flair and humour by Mr Fawcett, the concert took our audience on a journey through two decades of Mossbourne’s musical legacy — celebrating where we’ve come from, where we are, and where we’re going.
The evening showcased the incredible talent of pupils from across all Mossbourne schools, starting with the brilliant joint orchestra from our youngest schools, Riverside and Parkside. With poise and passion, they reminded us that musical excellence knows no age. They were followed by their choirs, rock bands and stunning vocal ensembles, performing a vibrant and uplifting set that captured themes of hope, identity and resilience.
This year also marked a special milestone as we welcomed Mossbourne Herd Lane Academy in Thurrock to their very first Federation concert. Their rousing renditions of When I Grow Up and Fame captured the spirit of ambition that has defined Mossbourne since its founding.
Our secondary pupils brought polish and power to the stage, from soulful soloists to soaring choral arrangements and original music by Year 11 band CTRL. Emotional highlights included tributes to past members of our Mossbourne family and a showstopping full-cast finale of Move On Up and Movin' On Up that had the entire audience on their feet.
Behind the scenes, none of this would have been possible without the dedication of our passionate music teachers, support staff and volunteers. A special thank you goes to the Friends of Mossbourne for keeping us fed and refreshed throughout the evening.
As the evening drew to a close, we were also thrilled to announce this year’s Mossician of the Year - congratulations to Liezelle Enos, whose exceptional talent, dedication and creativity embody the very best of Mossbourne Music. A truly deserving recipient, she continues to inspire both peers and staff alike.
As CEO Peter Hughes reminded us in his closing words, the last 20 years have been driven by a commitment to excellence, inclusion and opportunity — values that continue to define Mossbourne today.
Whether you’ve been part of the journey since the beginning or joined us just this year, thank you for being part of our story. And if you’d like to help ensure our musical tradition continues to grow, we invite you to support the Mossbourne Charitable Trust by scanning the QR code on the programme or visiting our website.
Here’s to the next 20 years of ambition, creativity and community.
