All food in schools must meet nutritional standards so that children have healthy, balanced diets.
This means there must be:
- high quality meat, poultry or oily fish
- at least 2 portions of fruit and vegetables with every meal
- bread, other cereals and potatoes
There can't be:
- fizzy drinks, crisps, chocolate or sweets in school meals and vending machines
- more than 2 portions of deep-fried food a week
If your child wishes to bring a packed lunch, this should be in a suitable container (not a carrier bag) marked with your child's name. We would also recommend that a cool pack is placed inside the lunch box, as it is often very warm in school, and this helps to keep the food fresh. We encourage healthy eating in school and ask you to bear this in mind when preparing your child's lunch box. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPLY PRODUCTS CONTAINING NUTS.
We have a healthy eating policy, and do not allow sweets, crisps or drinks at break times. Your child has the option of a piece of fruit at break time. In EYFS snack time is available for your child when they require it they also have milk and story time in the afternoon.
KS1 children receive a free fruit snack during the morning.
We operate a Tuck Shop that is available to all KS2 children, each item is 25p we aim to provide healthy snacks within Government guidelines such as yoghurt, fruit, cereal bars, water and flavoured water. This is a non profit making provision that is organised by staff members using the childrens views and preferences.
Your child should bring with them a water bottle for their use throughout the day.
